In addition to the Section Distinguished Service Key, Section 87 is in the process of establishing some section-level awards to recognize outstanding individuals and chapters.
Established and conferred at the Fall 2011 Section 87-88-89 Conference in Syracuse, this award recognizes outstanding advisors to chapters in Section 87. As approved at the Fall 2011 conference:
This award should be presented to those advisors of Alpha Phi Omega chapters falling in Section 87. People nominated for this award should demonstrate qualities and actions of extraordinary advisors. This award is being named in honor of two advisors who have gone above and beyond the call of duty for the Phi Chapter of Syracuse University and SUNY-ESF. Both of these advisors have made Alpha Phi Omega an integral part of their daily lives and have put service to others ahead of selfish aims time and time again. For decades, these two have helped Phi Chapter organize strong service projects, conduct the E-board efficiently, and answer all questions with the true spirit of Alpha Phi Omega at heart. It is in spirit of their hard work that this award is named after them. All recipients of the Lynne Mowers and Father Jim Lang Award truly embody the principles of Leadership, Friendship and Service through their advisingRecipients to Date:
